Profile

Research: My PhD focuses on assessing the below ground response of Cucurbitaceae to phosphate starvation and herbivorous feeding on plants. To do so, I’m using multi-omics data integration to combine changes in gene expression and metabolite exudation in the plant to the microbial composition in the soil. Once candidate genes and metabolites have been dug up, I will evaluate the mechanisms in which they are involved by altering their expression in vivo. In addition, I’m comparing stress responses between 20 species of Cucurbitaceae to assess the effects of domestication on plants’ ability to recruit microbes.

Hobbies: Playing music, climbing and space observation
